Mia Mélange is no ordinary textile business. Apart from producing handcrafted, high-quality products using locally sourced materials, one of their core values is to create opportunities for people from the local community. And this is of course the reason we were attracted to this beautiful business.  Their aim is to teach their employees valuable skills, provide them with the ability to earn a decent income, and empower them to be independent and able to support themselves and their families.

Environmentally Friendly & Locally Sourced

We love what they stand for because they not only support local people but they are doing what they can to ensure they operate a sustainable business that cares about our planet. The 100% cotton that is used to coil the products is grown in South Africa by farmers who are members of the Better Cotton Initiative (BCI). Yarn is spun in South African mills and the rope is braided in Cape Town. Their manufacturing technique means they have no waste materials as they reuse offcuts for smaller products and packaging. Few businesses can boast of being practically waste-free!
