Ronald is building his father’s legacy, one bamboo bag at a time.
Ronald is a real overcomer and epitomizes the characteristics of a Thusana Friend.
To say that his life hasn’t been easy is a huge understatement. But he has chosen to be a victor instead of a victim and has the most forgiving heart. Even though his father abandoned him and his brother at 4 and 5 years old, he still chooses to honor and respect him – saying he is who he is because of his father. And although he is a man of many talents, it’s the reason he continues to make the bamboo bags his father taught him how to. The bags look a little different from his father’s original design because he decided they needed to be lighter and brighter. Ronald is so receptive to feedback and wants to make sure he stays ‘on trend’ so that he keeps his customers ordering.
Ronald was clear when he shared his story. His father had to be part of it because it’s his legacy that he wants to continue building.
“Iron has to go through the heat to become something valuable”, quotes Ronald.
His biggest challenges in life have been his lack of education as he battles to read and write but it hasn’t stopped him. His tenacity and incredibly high work ethic are what have got him this far. “Work like a slave, then you’ll live like a king,” says Ronald.
Ronald dreams of one day running a home for abandoned (not orphaned) children so that he can give them what he never had – love.
We are so excited to welcome him to Thusana and look forward to watching his business grow as you support him!
