Leather Sling Bag – Samke

This leather sling bag is designed by Samke and beautifully handstitched by a team of men and women from the Esigodini area near Pietermaritzburg, KZN. It features an adjustable strap with brass fittings and a magnetic closer and there is a neat pocket at the back. It’s perfect for everyday or evening wear when you don’t need to carry everything plus the kitchen sink!

Carry it with pride knowing you’re supporting hard-working South African artisans. No machines are used in making these leather slings which means the crafters can work anywhere as they don’t need electricity.

Leather is locally sourced in South Africa and vegetable tanned. Vegetable tanning is the oldest and most natural form of processing leather using tannins from tree bark and plants rather than harsh chemicals. The end product is durable leather that lasts longer and is fully biodegradable. The hides used are byproducts of the food industry giving life to an otherwise unused component.
