Local craft was part of how St Dominics School for Girls in Boksburg celebrated its 100th year in 2023. And they chose Thusana to help them commemorate this special occasion.
The order for 1150 custom-designed beaded pins that the girls would wear during the 2023 school year came in at the end of November 2022. They sent us a drawing of their vision and our clever crafters got to work on samples which were quickly sent up to Johannesburg.
Their marketing team was delighted with the sample and the order was confirmed!
There was a team of 18 beaders that worked throughout the festive season to deliver the order on time and in full before the start of the 2023 school year. The beaders live in the Valley of 1000 Hills in rural Kwazulu-Natal and the order brought in much-needed income into this poor community.
“We so appreciate the personalised cards and the work your team of ladies have done. We are so impressed, thank you!” said Sharon Antonizzi, the Marketing Manager at St Dominics.
St Dominics also asked that the pins be packed into drawstring bags with a special note to the girls so that they understood the significance of what they would be wearing on their blazers throughout the year. We reached out to our friends at Embo Craft and 6 women sewed the bags using fabric that had been deemed ‘waste material’, but perfectly fit for purpose! This gave another 6 people extra income over the Christmas season.
Next time you need something to say ‘thank you’ to a client, or you need to commemorate a special occasion, or you simply want to promote your company, please consider supporting Thusana. Our custom craft will help your business and our local economy.
